How to choose a sensor

Start with the reading you need, not the sensor. Decide what you want to know about the asset, pick the category that measures it, then narrow by enclosure. Every measurement type comes in three builds: coin cell for tight spaces, AA battery for longer life, and an industrial NEMA-rated enclosure for wash-down, outdoor, or high-vibration spots.

Environmental 39 sensors

Temperature, humidity, air quality, and light. Use these for cold storage, server rooms, greenhouses, and any process with a spec range you have to hold.

Power & Electrical 46 sensors

Voltage, current, and pulse counting. Use these to confirm a machine is actually running, track energy draw, or catch a motor pulling more current than it should.

Motion & Detection 12 sensors

Movement, occupancy, open/closed state, and button presses. Use these for door and gate status, restricted areas, and manual call points on the floor.

Safety & Leak Detection 15 sensors

Water presence, dry contact status, and infrastructure alarms. Use these under equipment, near drains, and anywhere a leak would reach something expensive.

Vibration 13 sensors

Accelerometers and tilt detection. Use these on motors, pumps, and fans to catch bearing wear and imbalance before the equipment fails.

Pressure 9 sensors

Gas and liquid pressure, plus differential pressure. Use these on hydraulic systems, compressed air lines, and filters that load up over time.

How the sensors reach UpKeep

1. The sensor takes a reading on the schedule you set, from once a minute to once a day.
2. It sends that reading over the 900 MHz wireless protocol, with Encrypt-RF security, to an UpKeep Edge gateway up to 1,200 ft away. No line of sight required.
3. The gateway forwards the data to UpKeep over cellular, Ethernet, or Modbus.
4. A reading outside the range you set opens a work order and notifies the assigned technician.
