These two are still running on the older site. They are being rebuilt rather than copied across, because both depend on a server and both have features that do not currently work.

  • Checklist generator. Build a maintenance or inspection checklist for a given asset, frequency and industry, then edit it and take it away. Use the current version.

Frequently asked questions

Are these tools really free?

Yes, and there is no sign-up. Every tool here runs in your browser, so there is no account to create and nothing to install. We are a CMMS vendor and these exist because the calculations behind them come up constantly in maintenance work, whether or not you ever buy anything from us.

Does my data get sent to UpKeep?

No. The calculators, the QR generator and the root cause workspace all run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, and the root cause tool keeps its cases in your own browser storage rather than on a server.

Which calculator should I use for uptime?

It depends which question you are answering. Availability is the share of scheduled time an asset was able to run. OEE multiplies that by how fast it ran and how much of the output was good, so it is the fuller picture and the harder number to move.

If you are reporting to a plant manager, OEE. If you are diagnosing one asset, availability first, then MTBF and MTTR to see whether the problem is how often it breaks or how long it takes to fix.

Why do your formulas sometimes differ from ours?

Because several of these metrics have more than one accepted definition, and the difference is rarely small. MTTR calculated with parts waiting time included is a different number from MTTR without it, and both are called MTTR.

Every calculator page states which definition it uses and shows the formula, so you can check it against your own standard before you rely on the result.

Can I use these for an OSHA submission?

The TRIR, DART and LTIFR calculators use the standard 200,000-hour basis, so the arithmetic matches what OSHA expects. What they cannot do is decide which of your incidents are recordable, which is the part that actually determines the number. Treat the result as a check on your own figure, not as the submission itself.
