Overview
The Wireless Accelerometer - Tilt Detection Sensor is a digital, low-power, low-profile, MEMS sensor that can measure acceleration on one axis to provide a measure of the pitch. The sensor constantly monitors a single axis of rotation over a range of -179.9 to +180.0 degrees. The data is displayed in degrees with 0.1° of resolution. If the sensor does not experience a detectable orientation change, the sensor will produce a current report at a time interval (defined by the user). If an orientation change is detected, the sensor will report immediately. User-configurable angles are used to define regions for “Up”, “Down, and “Stuck”. Data is reported when the sensor moves between these regions.
How They Work
- The sensor measures accelerometers & vibration data using its integrated sensing element at configurable intervals.
- Readings are transmitted wirelessly to the UpKeep Edge gateway via the 900 MHz protocol, with Encrypt-RF security.
- UpKeep Edge processes incoming data in real time, comparing readings against user-defined alert thresholds.
- When thresholds are breached, instant notifications are sent via text, email, or phone call to designated team members.
- All data is logged for historical trending, compliance reporting, and predictive maintenance analysis.
Applications
- Motor vibration analysis
- Bearing wear detection
- Pump cavitation alerting
- Structural health monitoring

Questions about this sensor
- What does the Industrial - Accelerometer, Tilt Detect measure?
- The Wireless Accelerometer - Tilt Detection Sensor is a digital, low-power, low-profile, MEMS sensor that can measure acceleration on one axis to provide a measure of the pitch.
- Where is the Industrial - Accelerometer, Tilt Detect typically installed?
- Common placements include motor vibration analysis, bearing wear detection, pump cavitation alerting. It uses a NEMA-rated industrial enclosure, so it holds up to wash-down, outdoor, and high-vibration locations.
- What does it need to work?
- An UpKeep Edge gateway within about 1,200 ft. One gateway supports 50 or more sensors, and readings reach UpKeep over the gateway's cellular, Ethernet, or Modbus connection.
- What happens when a reading is out of range?
- UpKeep opens a work order against the asset and notifies the assigned technician. You set the thresholds for each accelerometers & vibration meter individually.
