Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate is the number of injuries causing lost time per million hours worked. It is the common measure outside the United States, and it appears in construction and resources contracts worldwide.

LTIFR questions
What base should I use, one million or 200,000?
Use whichever your contract, regulator or parent company specifies, and label it. One million hours is the more common international convention and 200,000 aligns with OSHA rates. Converting between them is a factor of five in either direction.
What is the difference between LTIFR and TRIR?
LTIFR counts only injuries causing lost time, against a million hour base. TRIR counts all OSHA recordable cases against a 200,000 hour base. They measure different populations of incident on different scales, so the two numbers are not comparable without converting both.
Does the day of the injury count as lost time?
No, under the usual convention. Counting begins with the next scheduled shift the employee is unable to work. An injury where the worker goes home for the afternoon and returns the next day is normally not a lost time injury.
