DART rate calculator
The DART rate counts only the recordable cases serious enough to keep someone off their normal job: days away from work, restricted duty, or a transfer to different work. It is a severity measure, where TRIR is a frequency measure.

One case counts once, however many of the three categories apply to it. Counting a case twice because the worker had days away and then restricted duty is a common error that overstates the rate.

How to calculate DART rate

Reading the result

DART rate questions
Is DART included in TRIR?
Yes. Every DART case is also a recordable case, so it appears in both. DART is a subset, which is why it can never exceed TRIR. If your calculation says otherwise, one of the two counts is wrong.
Does light duty count as a DART case?
Yes, if the restriction stops the employee doing their routine job functions or working a full shift. That is the "restricted work" category. A restriction that changes nothing about how the person actually works is not recordable as DART.
