What’s New in UpKeep: July 2026 Product Release

Duration: 30 minutes

Published on: August 04, 2026

Rocky Engelhardt

This is the first session in UpKeep’s new monthly product release series — a 30-minute walkthrough of everything that shipped across the platform in July, hosted by Customer Education Manager Meline. And this month has a real theme running through it, one Meline sums up as connected operations: less friction between the tools you use every day, and fewer gaps where information falls through the cracks.

The headline is Nova custom applications — zero-code, plain-English app building that lives right inside Nova. Until now, Nova mostly lived in the chat: you asked it something, it answered or took an action. Now you can describe an operational tool — a dashboard of your top assets by work orders, an overdue work order notifier, an asset-tag studio — and Nova builds it for you in seconds, with zero development resources and zero IT tickets. Every app gets its own URL you can bookmark, can be shared with a teammate or your whole organization, and can connect to your email, calendar, and other UpKeep modules like Safety and Edge, so data actually moves between systems instead of sitting in silos.

From there, the session covers the releases that make the rest of the platform quieter and faster: a rebuilt Scheduler with drag-and-drop, autosave, and a unified filter panel (built directly from maintenance planners’ feedback); custom sensor alert schedules on Edge that end the 2 a.m. false alarms without losing any data; anonymous incident reporting and multi-asset linking in UpKeep Safety; and an AI course creator in UpKeep Learn that turns an SOP or safety manual into structured chapters, quizzes, and a narrated video in minutes.

You’ll leave knowing:

  • How to build a custom app in Nova by describing it in plain English — from a live-built “top 10 assets by work orders” dashboard to overdue work order notifiers and custom asset-tag layouts — with no code and no IT ticket.

  • How Nova custom apps connect the rest of your stack: sharable across your org, reachable from a bookmarkable URL outside the UpKeep shell, integrated with email and calendar, and able to pull AI insights from files you upload directly into a record.

  • What changed in the Scheduler — drag-and-drop rescheduling with instant autosave, streamlined work order cards, a unified filter panel across technicians and work orders, and saved views pinned at the top — and why it came straight from maintenance planner feedback.

  • How Edge’s new custom alert schedules stop off-hours false alarms (weekend cool-downs, planned downtime, 2 a.m. noise) while still logging every reading — silencing the notification without losing the data, all from one centralized settings tab.

  • What shipped in Safety and Learn: anonymous incident reporting, multi-asset linking, and redesigned SDS/JHA pages; plus an AI course creator that turns an SOP into chapters, quizzes, and a narrated video — with timing enforcement so “completed” actually means someone sat through it.

From Months to Minutes: Turning SOPs Into Training With UpKeep Learn

Building one hour of traditional training content typically takes anywhere from 43 to 185 hours. In this live session, Rocky Engelhardt, Sr. Product Marketing Manager, and August Delazzeri, Product Manager, will walk through UpKeep Learn’s upgrades, and demonstrate how its AI engine takes an existing SOP and turns it into a structured course, complete with slides, narration, and a quiz, in a fraction of that time, without leaving the platform you already use for assets and work orders.

An Industry Perspective: How Food and Bev Leaders Can Modernize Maintenance Operations

The gap between food and beverage manufacturers still running reactive maintenance programs and those that have modernized operations across their plant floors is real, visible, and growing. The teams getting there aren't doing it through incremental improvement. They're rethinking how maintenance works at a program level, standardizing what used to be managed site by site, and building the operational discipline that makes compliance readiness, technician adoption, and production reliability a daily output rather than a periodic effort.
