We are so excited to chat with Monika Harris, our Administrative Business Partner! In a short amount of time, Monika is already making her mark and elevating the employee experience through the many different projects and programs she manages. Monika hit the ground running, seamlessly integrating best practices and methods to ensure our team is well-supported! We're incredibly lucky to have Monika and her tenacity on the team! Here is her interview with our CEO, Ryan.
Ryan: Could you start us off by sharing what your role is at UpKeep, and some of your responsibilities?
Monika: Of course! So as you mentioned I’m an Administrative Business Partner. In my role, I lead and manage a variety of simultaneous projects and programs, in addition to building increased efficiency and effectiveness into existing operations. I work with leadership to help define new operational strategies and I also have the privilege of managing employee experiences and events.
Ryan: How did you find out about UpKeep? And, what made you want to join the team?
Monika: I first heard of UpKeep when a former coworker of mine shared that she had accepted a role here and was really enthusiastic about it. I saw an opportunity posted shortly thereafter, expressed my interest, and the next thing I knew I was on a Zoom with Tyler learning more about the role and the company. The more people I talked to throughout the interview process, the more excited I was about joining UpKeep and getting to work with a diverse team of highly driven, motivated, and optimistic people.
Ryan: Currently, what’s a project you’ve been working on that you’re really proud of? Or, maybe a project you’ve already completed that you still think about?
Monika: We recently launched Monthly Employee Experiences, which are voluntary, virtual team experiences that all employees are invited to participate in. Each month I coordinate and announce a new virtual experience to the team, giving everyone the opportunity to connect and spend time with colleagues from different teams and locations in a fun, non work-related setting. It’s a great way for employees to get to know co-workers that they may not generally interact with, share a fun experience together and make some great memories. We recently had a lot of fun learning how to make street tacos and salsa from a professional chef and I’m really looking forward to a night of virtual magic and mind-reading coming up later this month!
Ryan: What’s something you love about UpKeep?
Monika: There are so many wonderful things about UpKeep. My favorites are probably the company culture and the people! I really enjoy all of the people I work with and I love that UpKeep has created a positive, inclusive and supportive work environment where I can show up each day as my true, authentic self and feel that my opinion and the work I do is valued.
