Welcoming Vala Rad to the UpKeep family as our Senior Director of Sales Development and Mid-Market!

Vala has already demonstrated incredible leadership as a consultant for UpKeep over the last few months. But now, we are so excited to have him a part of the team full-time! Welcome, Vala!

We’re excited to welcome you to the UpKeep family, Vala! Tell us a little about yourself.

A quick life story: I was born overseas in Iran and my family moved to California when I was five years old. I spent the majority of my life in the San Francisco Bay Area, and went to UC Santa Barbara for college. I love competitive sports! I played soccer, basketball and tennis growing up, and still play to this day. Outside of sports, I love to cook and hope to go to a culinary academy at some point in my life. I also love to travel! My top three favorite countries I’ve visited are Croatia, Spain and Turkey. My family to me is my entire world and I have a cool, little five pound mini Yorkie that's just as much of an adventure junkie as I am! 

How did you first get into Sales?

Summer of 1997, selling CutCo Knives door to door in high school. I still have my CutCo Sample Knife set. They lived up to the hype after all these years!!!

Why are you excited to join UpKeep?

To help UpKeep, its partners and investors reach new heights. It's a great feeling to be able to help grow a business and create opportunities for others.

What are your first thoughts about the culture and team so far?

WORLD CLASS! It's been such an incredible journey so far! The relationship, bond and trust built in such a short period of time has been incredible. Excited about the opportunity to meet new UpKeep partners in the days ahead.

We have to know – can you give us one fun fact about you?

I used to race cars! I was a part of the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America). 

And finally, most importantly, what would you be if you were a kitchen utensil?

A spork, of course! I'm a Libra and so I have to be balanced. Being multifunctional and adapting the two main utensils together is the way I’d go!
