Welcoming Katie Kurty to the UpKeep Family!

We’re so excited to welcome Katie to the team this week! Katie is joining us as our Technical Project Manager, and we couldn’t be more ecstatic to have her on board! Here is our interview with her!

We’re excited to welcome you to the UpKeep family today, Katie! Tell us a little about yourself! 

I live in Denver, Colorado but I’m from Vermont. I have a husband and two kids, Ophelia who is 4, and Sonny who is 7 months. We also have an Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix that we rescued. Her name is Eleven but we call her El for short.

How did you first get into Project Management?

I didn’t get into Project Management until I started working at my previous job at Booj. Taking an idea and scoping out the specifics, organizing and documenting the project was something that I discovered I really enjoyed doing.

Why are you excited to join UpKeep?

I was first attracted to UpKeep because of the app and the reason for its creation. But once I started speaking with people from UpKeep, I became more excited about working with everyone because of the culture. In addition, the Product and Engineering department has a great mission that I can stand behind.

What are your first thoughts about the culture and team so far?

Everyone that I have spoken with has been very nice and helpful. The culture is very diverse, and everyone seems to be accepted for who they are rather than feeling like the need to adapt to fit in.  

Katie, you mentioned how you’ve professionally ridden horses and even owned a horse - what’s your favorite part about riding horses? 

I’ve been riding horses since I was 3. People often say ‘it’s in your blood’ when you love horses, and I have to agree. It’s an amazing feeling to have an unspoken relationship and become a team.

Finally, and most importantly, what would you be if you were a kitchen utensil?

If I were a kitchen utensil, I’d be a whisk. I like to mix different things together to get a cohesive end product.
