Welcoming Geoff Brousseau to the UpKeep Family!

We’re so excited to welcome Geoff to the team this week! Geoff is joining us as our Sr. Full Stack Engineer, and we couldn’t be more stoked to have him on board! Here is our interview with him!

We’re excited to welcome you to the UpKeep family today, Geoff! Tell us a little about yourself! 

I grew up, and currently live in, Seattle, Washington. I was born on the East Coast in New Jersey. I have two fantastic, artistic, sarcastic, funny daughters. I’m lucky I’m not thin-skinned or they would destroy me. I have been in tech for many years doing many different things. However, programming was always my passion. I am excited I get to continue that journey with this company.

How did you first get into Engineering?

I taught myself to write code many years ago. However, I had fallen into system administration. A friend who is the director of development for a company in L.A. asked me if I wanted a role on their team. I took it and moved to L.A. and started my engineering career.

Why are you excited to join UpKeep?

The people I’ve met so far have been great. I feel like it’s a great fit for me that way. I also like the stated goals of the company to empower the customer.

What are your first thoughts about the culture and team so far?

Everyone’s so organized and helpful! So far, I'm really impressed with the onboarding process and the people I’ve met. People seem genuinely friendly and willing to help.

Geoff, you mentioned how you’ve performed stand-up comedy all over the world - what’s the story behind that?

A friend of mine asked me to do stand-up with him. We started going to open mics. I then took part in the Seattle international comedy competition, did well, and started doing it professionally.

Finally, and most importantly, what would you be if you were a kitchen utensil?

A big spoon. I love soup this time of year.
