UpKeep Welcomes Jim Lightsey As New Chief Financial Officer

Welcoming Jim Lightsey to the UpKeep family as Chief Financial Officer!!!

Jim Lightsey joins our team, moving from a Financial Consultant position to our first full time Chief Financial Officer! We could not be more excited to have him on board. Jim brings years of SaaS, startup, and financial experience to the finance side of his role, while he will also be heading up our People team. Jim, we can't thank you enough for everything you've done already - it's been an amazing journey so far. To the moon!

We’re excited to welcome you to the UpKeep family, Jim! Tell us a little about yourself.

I am a California native originally from LA (Downey to be exact!) and currently reside in San Francisco.  For those of you who have read the “Grapes of Wrath” by John Steinbeck, you will appreciate that my Dad’s parents were farmers that settled in LA after leaving Texas during the “Dust Bowl” and my Mom’s parents were from a very small town in the middle of Oklahoma.

How did you first get into Finance?

Well, I am a bit of an over-achiever… During my senior year of UCSB (Go Gauchos!) I took and passed the CPA exam, and when I graduated I joined Ernst & Young in San Francisco as an Auditor.

Why are you excited to join UpKeep?

UpKeep is now the fifth start-up that I have had the great honor to join or found...I’m particularly inspired by the tremendous value UpKeep’s platform brings to under-served technicians and the maintenance community at large. It’s really exciting to be part of a company that’s leveraging technology to positively transform the working lives of our users.

What are your first thoughts about the culture and team so far?

I’ve heard multiple people at UpKeep use the phrase “Yes, and..”  This is simple yet super powerful, and something I learned was integral to flow and creativity when I dabbled a few years back in improvisational comedy.  “Empowerment” & “fun” also come up a lot when people describe our culture, which also really resonates with me!

What is one goal you have for 2020?

Well, it’s sort of two, but being present to more gratitude and joy in my life!

And finally, most importantly, what would you be if you were a kitchen utensil?

A sponge.
