Black History & Culture Trivia Night at UpKeep

Black History Month is an annual observance originating in the United States, where it is also known as African-American History Month. It has received official recognition from governments in the United States and Canada, and more recently has been observed in Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Black History Month is celebrated every year during the entire month of February!

Each year, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) selects an overarching theme for Black History Month. The very first Black History Month theme was Civilization: A World Achievement. The 2023 Black History Month theme is Black Resistance. Black Resistance shines a light on historic and modern oppressions against African Americans. Advocating for equity has long been a form of resistance. Resisting acts of discrimination, injustices, and racism plays a critical role in African Americans' well-being.

Education is key! In honor of Black History Month, our teams had a battle of the brains at Virtual Black History & Culture Trivia! Our team broke out into groups and tested their knowledge on all things Black history. Congratulations to our winning team- The Cali Crushers!!

Giving Back

UpKeep's People Of Color Collective chose to donate funds to the Black Teacher Collaborative in support of their mission to "Create the conditions for every Black student to have a challenging, affirming & innovative learning environment staffed by a critical mass of Black educators."
