Welcoming our March Hires to the UpKeep Family!

We’re so excited to welcome our March hires to the team this month! Get to know the lovely additions to the UpKeep Family! Here is our interview with them!

Welcome to the team, Raul!

"Hi, I'm Raul! I grew up in Orange County, California, in what’s called Little Saigon, Garden Grove. Eventually, I moved down south to Irvine and fell in love with the area and the suburbs. I started life as a cat person, but met my wife, and she converted me into a dog person. Now, I have too many dogs! But, I still love ‘em just the same. I found a passion in helping dogs in need by volunteering at foster organizations, rehabilitation, and dog training (not very good but I try).

I pretend I can still snowboard in my 30’s. I like music so much that I play around with it using DJ gear. I don’t game as often or as long as I used to, but I still find time to keep up to date on the latest popular titles, or some indie studios to see what kinds of new experiences are out there. VR is something I have only dipped my toes into, but am probably going to go all-in on.

After being in the game industry for a few years (not in engineering), I really enjoyed working with the developers and eventually convinced the studio to let me join as a Junior Developer on a title to release. After that, I found that I liked developing and the challenges it brings. I went back to school and took CS courses to get a solid foundation and learn some languages and data structures. I got out and went into the startup world, absorbing as much information as possible and as fast as I could in both backend and frontend technologies.

I’ve met some building and maintenance managers due to my spouse’s career, and have ended up helping them deal with their own CMMS when they couldn’t figure something out. Our product is very polished, user-friendly, and makes way more sense than other industry competitors’ apps. Also, the sense of teamwork that came through during the interview process was a huge factor in my decision to join. You could sense the desire to do good work and continually iterate and improve on the process, app, and culture."

Welcome to the team, Monika!

"Hi, I'm Monika and I’m so excited to be an Administrative Business Partner at UpKeep! I have a background providing executive support in both startup and corporate tech environments with experience managing special projects for CEOs and C-staff, as well as providing executive coordination and administration. 

I first got into Operations when I became an Operations Coordinator at a large tech company about ten years ago as I was finishing college.

Welcome to the team, Osaybeon!

"My name is Osaybeon Howard. I am from a small town in North Carolina called Clinton. I moved to Raleigh in 2013 for college. I studied communications and graduated with my BA in 2016. I am married to Tempestt, who I met while attending college at William Peace University.

My goal is always to be better today than I was yesterday and that pushes me to work hard and never give up.

I started sales without realizing that I was in sales. When I was in college, I worked as an ambassador for the school, which means I would take prospective students on a tour of the campus. When I graduated, I then became an admissions counselor, traveling around the state getting students excited about going to college. It was then that I realized that what I was doing was essentially sales. I loved how many connections I was making, and I have been in sales ever since.

I am excited to join UpKeep because of the clients that UpKeep was designed and targeted for. A lot of the technology is aimed for the CEO of a company, but at UpKeep, it is designed to be used by the everyday Joe who is working in the fields. The culture of the company is also a big reason that I wanted to become a part of this phenomenal company."

"My name is Jeffrey and I recently joined UpKeep as a Full Stack Engineer. I graduated from UCSD, I absolutely love sushi, and I am a die hard Lakers fan!

Welcome to the team, Margo!

"Hi, I'm Margo and I am based out of the San Fernando Valley, where I’ve lived most of my life (save for a brief stint in Boise, Idaho from 2014-2019). I love all things food, reading, film, and music. If I’m not at home, lounging with my cats, you’ll likely find me at a movie theater, music venue, or on the trail. Above all, I am motivated by human connection. 

Like many, sales came to me! In my previous role, I was brought on as an office manager of sorts, tasked with coordinating administrative duties and office procedures. When the pandemic hit, my responsibilities quickly shifted and I transitioned into supporting the organization’s VP of Sales. I provided administrative and technical support for the company’s rapidly growing sales team, which more than octupled during my tenure. As someone with no prior sales experience, it was an incredible learning experience. I love the challenging nature of sales, as well as the opportunities it provides to connect with people from all walks of life.

In addition to UpKeep’s culture, talent, and mission, this opportunity is the perfect marriage of many of my interests, professional and personal. I began my career in blue-collar industries, and am passionate about serving the deskless workforce via technology. I’m thrilled to be joining a focused team with well-defined goals who embrace action." 

Welcome to the team, Molly!

"Hi! My name is Molly Flynn and I’m now a Product Manager with the incredible UpKeep team. I’m an East Coast native (Go Heels!) who’s been in the Denver area for two and a half years. I love backcountry hiking through the Rockies, but I do miss the ocean! I love being active - hot yoga; snowboarding; surfing; rollerblading - physical activity is my ideal form of meditation. 

My career in Product started while I had the opportunity to work with a small startup team bootstrapping a greenfield project. We were transitioning from a business model focused on providing consulting services to providing a SaaS platform that offered our framework and additional automation so that teams could implement our operational model themselves. I was the Account Manager for our first and largest SaaS customer, so I naturally became the voice of the customer for Product, Design and Engineering - helping to scope and design features. Eventually, we added a few more Account Managers and I transitioned to work with our Product and Design Team as a Product Analyst - writing specifications and User Stories, etc. 

The team here at UpKeep impressed me from the very beginning of the interview process. Over the course of that process, the team at UpKeep showed me that they cared about their candidates as human beings. In my experience, when a company values the potential of their candidates, it means that their company culture cherishes the potential, the health and the success of their employees as individuals and as a group.

Specific to UpKeep’s Product and Engineering teams, I’m thrilled to be one of the newest members, because the admiration that our customers have for the product itself is astonishing. Not only are we ranked #1 on platforms like Capterra, but the customer feedback - both solicited and unsolicited is overwhelmingly positive. One of the critical things I was looking for in my next career opportunity was the ability to work in a Product organization that encourages creativity and innovation, while operating with a strong sense of accountability to the community that it serves."
