We are excited to chat with Kozue Gukov, our incredible Growth Product Manager! Kozue has been crushing it on the Product team and has already made such a huge impact on our product growth. The future of UpKeep looks bright with all of the amazing work that Kozue has spearheaded in her short time with the team so far, and we're excited to see what comes next! It's evident that Kozue has taken in our "Progress over Perfection" value and applies it every day with her work. We are humbled to have Kozue on the team and admire the work she's done for UpKeep. Here is her interview with our CEO, Ryan!
Ryan: What's up, Kozue! Could you start us off by sharing what your role is at UpKeep, and some of your responsibilities?
Kozue: My role is about improving the product experience to acquire, activate, and retain customers. I’m focused on initiatives that streamline the customer journey from the time the customer hits our website to learn more about our offering to start a trial and becoming a subscribing customer, my goal is to help customers navigate that journey.
There are three key areas I’m currently working on -- self-service, Tier 1 expansion, and analytics.
Self-service and Tier 1 expansion go hand-in-hand and is about creating a path to success within the platform by programmatically giving customers the tools, resources, and guidance to self-educate and self-service. This includes things like developing an onboarding flow that teaches customers how to set up their accounts and delivering timely and relevant communications to support them along their journey.
The analytics will be an important part of our ability to measure the impact of our initiatives, improve our understanding of our customers and how they use our product, and use those insights to create customized communications and experiences for them going forward.
Ryan: How did you find out about UpKeep? And, what made you want to join the team?
Kozue: I found out about UpKeep from Tyler who reached out to me about the role. It was a number of things that made me want to join the team but it started with my conversation with Tyler. He spoke very highly of the team and it was clear that he was passionate about the company. When I went through the interview process, it really validated the people, culture, and company that Tyler described and got me excited about the prospect of working for UpKeep. Everyone I met during the interview process was very nice, smart, and energetic and it was clear that they were very excited and passionate about the work they were doing. That energy was very compelling and something I knew I wanted to be a part of. There were also things about the role and company that would offer exciting new opportunities for me to grow and challenge myself in ways I hadn’t been before. I knew it would push me outside my comfort zone, which was important so that I can continue to grow and evolve personally and professionally.
Ryan: Currently, what’s a project you’ve been working on that you’re really proud of? Or, maybe a project you’ve already completed that you still think about?
Kozue: I don’t want to sound cliche but I’m excited about all the work that I’m doing. The opportunity to improve the experience for our customers to grow adoption and engagement is a fun challenge. Now that Geoff, our Growth Engineer, has joined the team, we can really get going on these projects. Once we launch some of these projects, hopefully, we’ll see some positive results that we can be proud of!
Ryan: What’s something you love about UpKeep?
Kozue: The people really make this company! It’s so exciting and refreshing to be surrounded by so many amazing people - the amount of heart, energy, passion, and talent in this company is really astounding and I’m grateful and proud to be a part of it!
