Ryan: What's up, Curtis! Could you start us off by sharing what your role is at UpKeep, and some of your responsibilities?
Curtis: Hello! I’m the go-to Market Systems Manager here at UpKeep. I handle most of the sales-facing technology we use, and help build and design most of the sales processes. The cool thing about my job is interacting with so many departments here at UpKeep. From marketing, sales, finance, and customer success — I get to work with so many fun people.
Ryan: How did you find out about UpKeep? And, what made you want to join the team?
Curtis: I actually worked with our Head of Revenue Operations, Jeff Ignacio, at my previous company. He told me they were building out a team at UpKeep, and after contracting here for a few months, it became my full-time job. When I first heard about UpKeep, I found out that you (Ryan) were friends with the CEO at the very first startup I ever worked at, GoGuardian. You and Advait went to UCLA together. That was a really tough place for me to leave, as I really loved the energy and the mission statement there. I remember seeing it on a chalk wall in the office every morning when I came in. It was about putting customers first and having the courage to be your best and take risks. I saw the same thing here at UpKeep. GoGuardian took a chance on me and hired me into their technical support department, and then took a chance again when they made me their Salesforce Admin. It felt like the universe was telling me this was the place I was supposed to be.
Ryan: Currently, what’s something you’ve been working on that you’re really proud of? Or, maybe a project you’ve already completed that you still think about?
Curtis: Something I have been working on that I am proud of is just watching the growth of our revenue operations team, and being able to hand off my projects for them to take over and make better. Originally, it was just me and Jeff (Head of Revenue Operations). And then, Jay, our Sales Enablement Manager, moved to the team. And now, we have marketing operations, customer success, and administrative business hires joining soon. A lot of our departments have processes that I helped build and implement, and I am just excited to work with them as the business grows to really set us up for scalability and future success at UpKeep.
Ryan: What’s something you love about UpKeep?
Curtis: One of the things that I love about this company is our social media presence. We have a Maintenance Community Slack group, this podcast, awesome webinars, and we are just so active in developing a sense of community in our space, which no one else does. I think it really highlights the “customer first” mentality here, but it goes beyond that. Even if you are not an UpKeep customer, we want to hear from you and involve you.
Ryan: Awesome, thanks again, Curtis, for joining me in this episode of Life at UpKeep!
