Today we’re proud to announce that UpKeep has been named one of Y Combinator’s Top Companies for 2022! This puts us alongside companies like Stripe, Airbnb, DoorDash, and many others.

Y Combinator provides seed funding for startups. Seed funding is the earliest stage of venture funding and pays one’s expenses while getting started. Y Combinator has invested in over 3,000 companies since 2005. Out of those companies, UpKeep is ranked #177, which puts us in the top 6% of Y Combinator companies.

How UpKeep Started

UpKeep started in 2015 by CEO, Ryan Chan, from an idea he had while working as a process-development engineer at a membrane manufacturing plant. He noticed that one of the biggest problems at the facility was the extremely cumbersome process of creating, keeping track of, and closing out maintenance work orders.

Ryan realized that with modern cloud and smartphone technology, he could create an easier solution and save the maintenance team hours a day and a lot of lost uptime. With mobility in mind, he set out on a mission to drastically improve the workflow and productivity of maintenance teams across the globe.

Where We’re Headed

Today, we’re the #1 CMMS and Leader in the EAM space. But we’ve only just gotten started. We’re not just focused on bringing mobile-first technology to industries. We’re dreaming a bigger dream for our customers than any of us ever thought possible.

We want maintenance, reliability, and operations teams to be seen as profit centers within their organizations—a unified team that contributes to the bottom line. To do this, we’re redefining maintenance and creating our own category: Asset Operations.

As one team under Asset Operations, data can now feed into one central command center. This integrated view allows teams to focus on the optimization of assets across the entire life cycle. It changes the conversation from “How many hours did you work today?” to “This is the value you’ve added to the business today.”

The next generation of maintenance will come from collecting the right data, displaying the best insights, and providing actionable feedback. Asset Operations is how we get there.
