AI features

UpKeep leads

Every plan includes Nova with monthly credits (250 on Essential up to 1,000 on Enterprise). Nova answers questions about your data, drafts closeout notes, cleans up data and builds checklists. The Nova App Builder creates custom apps from a description, starting on Premium.

Coast

Coast markets AI that builds workflows from a plain-language description, which helps teams set up forms and processes faster. Coast does not list an AI assistant that drafts work orders, answers data questions or audits data.

Coast's AI sets up workflows; UpKeep's Nova works inside daily maintenance.

Work order management

Tie

Every plan includes unlimited work orders and locations, data importing and unlimited requesters. Technicians create work orders by voice with Voice Fill, and Nova drafts closeout notes and activity summaries. Checklists and time and cost tracking start on Premium, and custom statuses and workflow automation on Enterprise.

Coast

Every Coast plan, including Free, has unlimited work orders and real-time messaging, so teams can assign work and chat about it in one place. Starter adds unlimited history, repeating work orders with procedures, time and cost tracking, and 5 workflow automations. Pro adds full workflow customization, external request forms and automated time tracking.

Coast is simpler for basic work orders; UpKeep goes deeper on assets, parts and reporting.

Preventive maintenance

Coast leads

PM scheduling starts on Premium at $55/user/month. It covers time-based and meter-based schedules and custom checklists, with the Smart Checklist Builder writing checklists from a short description. Edge sensors can open a work order automatically when a reading leaves its range.

Coast

Coast handles PM through repeating work orders: 5 on the Free plan and unlimited, with procedures, on Starter at $25/user/month. That makes basic time-based PM cheap. Meter-based and sensor-based triggers are not listed on Coast's pricing page.

Coast is cheaper for simple time-based PM; UpKeep adds meter and sensor triggers.

Asset management

UpKeep leads

UpKeep supports a four-level asset hierarchy, barcode scanning and meter readings from Premium, and asset lifecycle tracking on Professional. Enterprise adds depreciation, warranty and downtime tracking, custom asset statuses and check-in/check-out for shared equipment.

Coast

Coast tracks assets with QR codes, documents and history, and its asset features cover warranties, service contracts and acquisition-to-disposal tracking. It does not publish hierarchy depth or asset-level reliability reporting outside Pro and Enterprise.

Coast covers the basics; UpKeep is built for asset hierarchies and lifecycle data.

Parts and inventory

UpKeep leads

Parts and inventory management with costing starts on Premium at $55/user/month, with multiple inventory lines per part. Photo-to-Parts creates part records from a photo. Purchase orders sit on Enterprise.

Coast

Coast includes parts inventory management for tracking stock and parts used on work orders. Purchasing and multi-location inventory are not listed on the pricing page, so check them with Coast if you buy parts at scale.

UpKeep is stronger for costing and purchasing; Coast suits simple stock tracking.

Reporting and analytics

Tie

Drill-down reporting starts on Premium (30 days of history), with full history from Professional. Enterprise adds custom dashboards, asset downtime and equipment reliability reports, and multi-site modules. Nova can answer questions about your data in plain language on every plan.

Coast

Coast's free and Starter plans don't include reporting and dashboards. Pro ($65 yearly, $72 monthly) adds reporting analytics, unlimited custom dashboards and automated downtime tracking. Enterprise adds custom reporting and multi-site reporting.

Coast's Pro has strong dashboards but costs more; UpKeep reports start on Premium at $55.

Mobile app and offline use

Tie

UpKeep started as a mobile app, and its iOS and Android apps cover work orders, scanning, photos, signatures and voice entry. Offline work orders start on Professional, with bookmarked and auto-cached work orders and offline drafts.

Coast

Coast is mobile-first and highly rated, with 450+ App Store and 300+ Google Play reviews, and it combines work orders with chat in one app. Offline mode is not listed on its pricing page.

Both are mobile-first; UpKeep confirms offline work orders on Professional.

Integrations

Tie

API access, business integrations and custom integrations are on Enterprise. UpKeep's own Edge sensors connect natively without an integration project.

Coast

Coast has an integrations marketplace, and its Enterprise plan includes integrations and SSO. Lower plans rely on CSV and PDF export.

Both put integrations on Enterprise; UpKeep lists deeper ERP and custom integrations.

Safety, fleet and training

UpKeep leads

UpKeep sells Safety (incident capture with OSHA 300, 300A and 301 recordkeeping), Fleet (DVIRs, VIN lookup, telematics) and Learn (courses and certifications) as modules on the same platform and login as maintenance.

Coast

Coast supports inspections and checklists, and it markets fleet maintenance as an industry use case. It has no dedicated safety (OSHA recordkeeping), fleet (DVIR, telematics) or learning module.

One vendor for maintenance, EHS, fleet and training means fewer tools and invoices.

Sensors and condition monitoring

UpKeep leads

UpKeep Edge is UpKeep's own wireless sensor line for vibration, temperature and other readings. A reading outside the range you set opens a work order on that asset automatically, and dashboards show sensor trends next to maintenance history.

Coast

Coast doesn't offer its own sensors or condition-monitoring module.

UpKeep's Edge sensors trigger work orders automatically; Coast has no equivalent.
